Relatively undemanding and good for beginners. It can attain dense growth in aquarium which prevents light from reaching the lower leaves. Pruning should be performed frequently to make space for growing stems. Under bright light the leaves attain pink tone. The emergent leaves are light green and round but become pointed narrow leaves with pink colour on underside. Some hobbyists claim that it can adapt to conditions slowly in CO2 limiting environment.
